The Hayloft

South Devon, Dartmoor

The Hayloft is a unique space, a Tudor barn renovated in understated, luxurious style. A perfect bolt hole for two, well situated on the edge of Dartmoor, within easy walking distance of the charming town of Ashburton. Browse around the independent shops, find artisan food in the delis and bakery, eat out in the cafes and restaurants. Alternatively drive and explore the rugged landscape of Dartmoor or the beautiful beaches and quaint towns of South Devon.

Unwind in the bateau bath, cuddle up in the cosy snug before a log fire, or while away the morning reading the papers with views to the countryside. The Hayloft has a well-equipped kitchen, shower-room and bath. Everything you could need has been thought of, it’s a home away from home. Your hosts Sarah and Joe look forward to welcoming you and are usually at hand to answer any queries.

You’ll have access to a private garage and private entrance to the Hayloft. The owners of the property live next door, although both properties are completely separate.

Location

Ashburton lies on the southern slopes of Dartmoor in the heart of the South Devon countryside. Flanked by the Devon Expressway, that extends the M.5 to the historic naval port of Plymouth, it is situated roughly half way between Plymouth and Exeter.

Ashburton is not only a splendid gateway to Dartmoor, but is also the ideal base from which to explore the whole region from Moor to sea.

The scenery in the area is glorious in all the weather’s moods and offers visitors opportunities for walking, pony trekking, canoeing, fishing and – if you like – just pottering.

This ancient stannary town dates from Saxon times and has spread out from its centre along the courses of the little river Ashburn and its tributary, the Balland Stream
